Our History

Tamenglong is one of the most backward districts and located in the western part of Manipur. In the year 1981, at the time of the establishment of United Baptist School, there were only two private schools in Tamenglong District HQ—Don Bosco School (DBS) and Christian Model English School (CMES). A society which has good institutions naturally influences socially, politically, economically and even spiritually.

A change came to any society and for the nation through a committed visionary leader, similar situation came with the establishment of the United Baptist School (UBS). Both Zeliangrong Evangelistic Fellowship (ZEF) and United Baptist School were the brainchild, the magnum opus of Dr. Lungphak T. Panmei.

When Rev. Kaiba Riamei returned from the United States after completion of theological studies, Rev. Gaikhuanlung Gangmei convened a meeting along with ZEF leaders for establishing one private Baptist School in response to the existing Don Bosco School at Tamenglong. The meeting was held on 8th March, 1980 at Town Baptist Church, Tamenglong District HQ. During the meeting Rev. Gaikhuanlung Gangmei and Rev. Kaiba Riamei were appointed as the Chairman and Secretary. Along with them, 16 members were selected to be the managing board of the School. In the meeting 23 Baptist Churches from the villages surrounding the district HQ were requested to give support morally and financially for the new School. The meeting unanimously resolved to start the school by the next academic session.

And in the following year on 2nd March, 1981 the School was established from Nursery to Class V. The ZEF kindly offered a piece of land for the School. The School Board purchased a piece of land adjacent to ZEF to start the School building. The School Governing Board appointed Rev. K.C Gaila as the Principal of the School. An unprecedented fire once completely razed the School building on 17th February, 1984 at 3:00 am. The cause of the incident was not known. It was an uphill task to rebuild the School from the scraps. And in the following year on 28th December, 1985 the School was renamed as United Builders School.

The School was registered under Section 20 of the Registration of Societies Act, 1860 on 22nd December, 1988 vide Registration No. 61/TD/SR/86.

After Rev. K.C Gaila left for Theological Studies in South Korea, on 3rd November, 1988 Maj G. Kamei (Retd) was appointed as Principal of the School by the Governing Board. The School was recognized by the Government of Manipur till class VIII. Subsequently, the School was recognized upto Class X by the government of Manipur on 17th December 1991.

On 10th March 2022, Dr. Lungthuiyang Riamei, an alumnus, was appointed by the Governing Board as the Principal of the School.
